Shopping - The Real Way

This weekend, Keith and I went down to Pike Place Market. I'd been there before. (Visiting Keith and strictly as a tourist.) This time we set out knowing we wanted to spend some time there, but also knowing that we wanted to walk away with some things. After an obligatory stop watching the fish throwing, we immersed ourselves in the throngs of people trying to move through the market. I will take this kind of shopping over going to the grocery store any day! As you walk through, vendors are talking to you, people are laughing and smiling, there is just an energy there unlike anywhere else. You can reallly get a sense of the history there, from the cobblestone streets to the beautiful buildings. Fruit vendors carve up fruit to let you sample it, Flower vendors make their bouquets as you walk by, you may even catch a fish or two flying overhead. After walking through, Keith and I headed to Post Alley to a wonderful Irish restaurant called Kell's for a delicious lunch, and then headed back into the market. After buying some meat, peaches, apples, a beautiful bouquet of flowers, some pasta, and a mango, we headed home. I can't wait to go shopping again!
