Reason Number 2,358 Why I Hate Hollywood

I came accross this story last week, and I'm just now getting around to commenting about it. Apparntly on the set of Matthew McConaughey's new movie, he tried to throw his celebrity power around. TMZ reported that during a pool party scene that involved many female extras in bathing suits, Mr. McConaughey (who is also a producer for the film) told the girls that if they went topless, they would get more money for the scene. Many of the girls did just that. Not wanting to stop there, he then requested girl on girl action. Apparantly the girls did not complain and only one girl left the set. (Good for you whoever you are!)
This is just another example of what the norm is in Hollywood. It's frightening to me that this is the ACCEPTABLE norm. I feel bad that these girls feel the need to belittle themselves in this way to work in the industry. It's sad that they are not smart enough to know that the Screen Actors Guild determines the payscale, not Mr. McConaughey.
It's becoming increasingly more difficult for honest actresses who are in it for the art to make it in this business. If an actress is being asked to do these things as an extra, is there any hope at all for modesty in Hollywood?
