Encore! Encore!

Last weekend was our production of Disney's Aladdin Jr. What a great show it turned out to be! (not that I had any doubt). It was certainly a great way to kick off the new Spotlight Theatre Company at the Elk Grove Park District.

I was truly blessed with a fantastic production team. Although there were only three of us, we worked impeccably well together. We are all sufficiently exhausted, but anxious to start on the next show!

What I'm really amazed with is the kids in this cast. We had 40 kids ranging in age from grade school to high school. With only five weeks to rehearse (and only three days a week), they had to work extremely hard to learn the show. They all went above and beyond and I'm so proud of all of their performances!

The audience reaction was fantastic. I love it when I hear comments like, "we got home and my granddaughter kept sitting on the area rug commanding it to fly." and, "My daughter just wants to watch the movie over and over again now."

I feel sad that the show is now over. And I don't know what I'll do with all my free time....wait....it's time to start on the next one! I'm so looking forward to the next show. I can't wait to work with all of the kids again. They are truly amazing!
